Autumn 2012:

(Trip confirmed and taking bookings)

Mallorca's magnificent beaches and mountains are the haunt of the super-rich and the holidaying Brit during the summer season, but once the hordes have moved on and the temperatures have cooled; the frenetic ambience of the Island changes and becomes a near paradise for a winter sun walking holiday. Great weather, great refuges and beautiful scenery: what more can you ask for from a winter sun getaway such as this?!

The route is graced with magnificent scenery and follows the best four days from Majorca's long distance path listed as the GR221, The Dry Stone Way, created from the old traders' route along the island's north coast and mountains. The path winds itself high and low from secluded bays to mountain tops. A good set of hill legs are imperative for this walk! Also included is one possible day for some optional scrambling - be sure to advise us if a poor head for heights may preclude this and we'll accommodate for your needs.

This trek is the perfect starter trek - if you've never trekked before try this.

Timing
This trek is scheduled with a view to getting the best of Mallorca's weather - avoiding the oppressive mid-summer heat. Visibility should be good, but there is still a chance of rain. Hence, be sure to bring waterproofs as advised in the packing list and warm clothes for the possible chilly evenings.

Equipment
The kit list specifically required for this walking holiday is provided below in PDF format. It will also be posted to you in our client's expedition handbook. Largely speaking little is required of you - a good pair of light weight walking boots, may be the only things you need to buy prior to departure. Level of Fitness for the Trek
We’ll be walking at steady pace taking time for breaks and to photograph the scenery. Generally the days have us walking for around 8 hours and will require a reasonable level of hill fitness from you. Exercise regularly each week to develop your cardiovascular system and stamina. At weekends, go and explore some countryside, maybe take a pack and do some camping. As a rule of thumb, if you can comfortably walk 12 miles up and down the hills inside a day then you should be fine on this trip.

Roughing It
All our trips involve a degree of 'roughing it'. The accommodation we use is comfortable but by no means ostentatious. On this trip we will be staying in refuges (refugio) – a sort of rustic and charming form of our youth hostels. These are basic but clean and comfortable.

Price (excluding flights)
Autumn 2011: £500 - Qualify for a 10% discount on Spring's trip by booking before 11th January 2012.

Price includes . . .

  • Will4Adventure mountain leader
  • All meals on trek (set menu)
  • All accomodation
  • All in-country transport
  • Airport transfers*
  • Lost luggage protection with i-Trak

* Airport transfers are only available on days within the itinerary.

This price does not cover your meals when not on trek, such as when you are in Palma nor our first night in Esporles, nor will it cover any individual sightseeing undertaken. Other items not included: travel insurance, passports, visas, inoculations, excess baggage, additional days in Palma due to flight delays, and items of personal nature such as drinks, souvenirs and laundry. We would recommend bringing another £50 to cover meals not provided and snacks etc. This should easily cover it. (More if you're partial to a beer or glass of wine!)

Maximum number of places on this trip
The number of places available on this trip are limited to a maximum of twelve (12) people.

Flights
For best prices we would recommend checking prices with www.easyjet.com, www.flymonarch.com and www.ryanair.com

How about carbon offsetting your flight here? Climate Care allows you to offset your flight's emissions by funding sustainable energy projects. From £3 for return flights to Morocco to £47 for flights to NZ - this trip needn't cost the Earth. Thanks.
